Android Applications are a specialised derivative of Mobile Applications.
They download to the Android device (Smart-phone, Tablet or Hand-held) and function as a standalone program.
Mobile applications work on small devices such as smart phones and tablets and specialised hand-held computers.
Chances are you already have a smartphone or tablet computer.
You may not have come across hand-held computers before but cast your mind back to the last time you
were in the supermarket or possibly accepted a delivery. Did you notice the the person serving you was holding a small hand-held computer?
These give access to all information just in a smaller way.
Android applications function in identical way to full sized applications but can also interface with things like the camera, GPS and barcode scanners to mention but a few.
The major benefit of an android application is that once it is deployed it doesn't need a web connection. The operator is able to work out in the field,
work with off-line data if they wish and synchronise information when they have either an internet or network connection.
